Our business supporting your business

We specialise in working with the owners and directors of small/medium sized businesses. This means that we work alongside you, your teams and your families to understand what you are trying to achieve, financially.

We work with business owners on a consultancy basis. What we mean by this is we take time to understand what your business is all about, your plans for developing and growing your business and your wishes for the future. This may be to sell the business, pass it on through to the family or develop a plan for succession. We are focused on saving you time, sourcing creative solutions, highlighting the choices and options available for your business and validating your financial decisions and goals.

1. Understanding your requirements

Before making any recommendation it's imperative that we understand your current situation. We therefore complete a comprehensive fact find to gather this information. This will be done before or during our first meeting with you.

We provide our clients with their own dedicated secure website and this gives you the option to input your financial information prior to the first meeting if you so wish.

At this point we will also provide information about our services, explain how we charge for these services and confirm the advice we will offer. From here we will assess your assets and liabilities, discuss your objectives and priorities and establish your attitude to risk.

In our view this is the most important step which is overlooked by many. By taking the time to find out what's important to you will then ensure we are able to provide a complete service.

2. Analyse your financial position

Once we have understood your financial requirements and identified your goals we can begin analysing this information.

Using the latest analytical tools helps us to understand the breakdown of your existing assets and how these are performing against your risk criteria and objectives. We need to ensure that there is correlation between your goals, objectives, risk criteria and asset allocation.

3. Formulate a strategy to meet objectives

Using the information we obtain from you we develop a detailed financial plan.

We look at whether the financial plan will fit in with your lifetime goals and make sure you are comfortable with the timescale for implementing the plan. We research the market, review different products and providers and follow up with the preparation of a document outlining a strategy tailored to your individual goals and circumstances.

4. Produce recommendation and implement

Our aim is to present your recommendation in a clear and simple manner. We will discuss and explain the appropriate course of action with supporting documentation and answer any questions you may have. Where appropriate we will provide a pre-recommendation report.

Once agreed we will implement the recommendation(s) and write to you confirming the advice given.

Your secure personal website will give access to all supporting documentation.

5. Revisit investments, objectives and strategy

At this point, you'll agree how often you want to review your plans.

The frequency and level of contact you have with us is up to you. It could be face-to-face meetings, over the phone or by email.
If your circumstances change, we also need to know so that we can review what further changes your plan may require. All events that may affect your finances will require you to re-visit your financial planning strategy.

This process has to be underpinned by a joint commitment from both Pennymatters and our clients in order to ensure the successful completion of their financial goal
